Estonian traditional culture

Estonian Folk Culture Development and Training Centre (Estonian Folk Culture Centre), a governmental body, participates in development of the cultural policy, contributes to the survival and evolution of the folk culture and appreciation of intangible heritage, carries out professional training courses for adults.

ETMC teaches, promotes, and preserves Estonian traditional music. The Center established the non-formal educational centre August Pulst School and the Traditional Music Center Library. It also organizes the legendary Viljandi Folk Music festival.

Pärimuskultuuri katusorganisatsioon, mille liikmeteks on kultuuri-, haridus- ja teadusasutused, rahvakultuuri seltsid, folkloorifestivalide organisatsioonid ja üksikisikud. ERFN toetab ja arendab folklooriliikumist Eestis ning koordineerib Eesti-sisest ja rahvusvahelist koostööd pärimuskultuuri vallas.

Eesti Vabaõhumuuseum on Eesti 18.-20.sajandi maarhitektuuri ning külamiljööd tutvustav muuseum, mis asub mere ääres, 80 ha suuruses imekaunis parkmetsas.

The central museum and competence center in the music and theatre field of Estonia. Especially valuable is its varied and large archieve of musical and theatre materials. Museum organizes thematic exhibitions, lectures, conferences, concerts and discussion evenings.

2. märtsil 1886. aastal sündis Friedebert Tuglas Tartumaal Võnnu kihelkonnas Ahja mõisas puusepa Jüri Mihkelsoni peres. Ahjal möödusid poisikese esimesed eluaastad. Kõige rohkem on Tuglas oma lapsepõlvemälestusi jäädvustanud raamatus Väike Illimar ja tänu sellele tuntakse Ahjat väikese Illimari maana.
